We’ll Call It love - morgan wright

An excerpt from “We’ll Call It Love”:

…as A FEMALE'S VOICE begins to speak to us.

As she does, the scenes we're watching of the city and it's people are FROZEN in BLACK AND WHITE STILLS, accompanied by the Shutter, of an OLD, 35mm FILM CAMERA snapping pictures.

MORGAN (V.O)

The movies want us to believe in a cinematic kind of love. A love that's easy, pretty - sellable. One where when something goes awry in your relationship, it can simply be put back on track with a big declaration or grand gesture. Suddenly everything that was broken, that didn't quite click, is fixed.

A beat.

MORGAN (V.O) (CONT'D)

I don't buy into any of that.

A WOMAN holds THE FILM CAMERA, poised to take a photo, before it drops from her face. This is MORGAN WRIGHT…

Praise for Morgan Wright from “The Script Lab” 2024 Feature Contest:

“Morgan is the main character in every sense of the word.”

“She provides meta commentary while getting into the very situations that she claims aren’t real. This could have backfired if Morgan’s voice over wasn’t frequently hilarious and charming. This script has a voice and Morgan is providing it. She gives this script a lot of its charm.”

“Morgan’s voice overs are often hilarious and even when they aren’t going for laughs they provide the script with a unique voice. One that is caustic and cynical at times but which hides a very big heart.”

Praise for Morgan Wright from “Outstanding Screenplays” 2024 Feature Competition:

“The characters are so well developed. Morgan is a likeable, charismatic, and down to earth protagonist - we want her to have her happy ending and really do feel for her when the situationship with Jack goes wrong.”

“The comedic writing of the script is a particular highlight. There’s multiple laugh out loud moments in the script, mostly coming from Morgan and the thoughts in her head. Her humour is spot on and really runs the show - the timing is right on every line.”
